Friday June 30th 6:30pm at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science!
We are thrilled to partner with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science who will be hosting our next meeting. We will meet at the museum after hours where we will have a private meeting space, access to the museum for FREE, and a cash bar! We are hoping to see some puppetry related artifacts from the anthropology department as well! The museum is being very generous in offering us free tickets, so we need to give them a head count prior to the meeting.
If you would like to join us for a night at the museum please sign up on the following Google form no later than June 27th. We are trying to get a good sized group together for this! If you have family members who want to join please reach out to Katy. We will most likely be able to accommodate those guests. Or even better use this as a chance to convert another friend to the guild! And as always you are welcome to bring any puppets you want to show off or workshop with fellow puppet nerds.
Also please note we are having this meeting on a Friday rather than our usual Tuesday. For members who plan to be at Fan Expo Denver our meeting is happening that weekend so you can get a full weekend of nerds and puppets!
Katy Williams Design is happy to announce the next Puppet Palooza and Puppet Slam! Like we did in 2021 we will be partnering with Green Box Arts in Green Mountain Falls CO. We will be doing the Palooza AND the slam in one day!

Learn how to turn any 3d object into a pattern! It could be a sculpted clay creature, a porcelain doll head, or even a gigantic easter egg! Katy has used this trick recently on puppets like Ghost Fish and Milky White. In this workshop we will create a very simple head shape using clay and Styrofoam balls. From there you will learn how to create a pattern of the object. Then we will show the process of making it larger and recreating it in foam.
There will be a demo for those attending virtually, and the opportunity to follow along in real time for those who attend in person. Participants will leave with a small pattern of their object and lots of new skills! If you would like to follow along at home please prepare the following materials: Styrofoam sphere or easter egg, masking tape, clingwrap, sharpie, scissors.
As always if you want to bring any puppets you are working on, the meetings are a place of learning and celebration! We would love to see what you are working on.
This workshop is based on the teachings of Lex Rudd. Please check them out!

Hello All!
I am thrilled to open submissions for the next Rocky Mountain Puppet Slam!
The next Puppet slam is being generously supported by Denver Arts and Venues' Next Stage NOW program. This slam is going to be at the DCPA in downtown Denver and will hopefully bring a huge crowd! This slam will be a bit fancier than past events, but will still be free and have yummy food and drinks! This will be the same set up as our February 2020 slam for those who attended.

The children's puppet extravaganza (described in our last newsletter) is on the way! Last year the festival was amazing, and this year we're part of the larger arts extravaganza. We expect more incredible attendance than we did last year. Green Mountain Falls is beautiful and you can rent a rustic little cabin in the mountains and make a holiday weekend out of it. So come out and meet all sorts of puppeteers, see amazing performances, and enjoy the shows! I'm sure Katy would be thrilled to hear from volunteers for the festival - people who can help out in any way - and you can reach her at katy@katywilliamsdesign.com.
